After the treatment: what to expect
Returning home, laundry, what is normal to see and what should be reported.
The intervention is done. What follows matters just as much as what came before: this is the period where the result is consolidated.
Returning to the premises
Respect the waiting time given by the technician before going back into the treated rooms. Then ventilate normally. Do not wash the treated surfaces: you would remove what needs to keep working.
The first few days
- Put back clean bedding that has been kept in sealed bags since laundering.
- Keep sleeping in your usual bed, in the treated room.
- Vacuum regularly, without scrubbing the treated areas.
- Install certified encasements on the mattress and box spring if not already done.
- Write down everything you observe, with the date: it is valuable for the follow-up visit.
What is normal
Seeing a bed bug in the following days is not a failure. The intervention keeps working: disturbed insects come out of their hiding places and become visible before dying. Some eggs also hatch after the technician's visit.
What should be reported: new bites continuing after several weeks, or fresh traces found in a room that had not been identified. Call us rather than waiting for the scheduled visit.
Do not clean too hard, too fast
Many people want to scrub everything the next day. That is counterproductive. Vacuum, do your laundry, but leave the treated surfaces alone for the period indicated.
The follow-up visit
We come back after a delay matched to the insect's life cycle. The technician re-inspects, confirms the result or adjusts the intervention. See our follow-up and prevention page.
And afterwards?
Keep the encasement on the mattress and box spring for at least a year, keep the bed away from the wall, and adopt the habits described on the prevention page.
