Inspection and detection

Before treating, you have to know. A serious inspection avoids two costly mistakes: intervening when it is not bed bugs at all, or treating a single room when the infestation has already moved.

What the technician examines

• The bed as a whole: mattress seams, box spring, frame, headboard, screws and joints.
• Nearby furniture: night tables, dressers, armchairs, sofas, drawers.
• The perimeter: baseboards, mouldings, electrical outlets, door frames, loose wallpaper.
• Fabrics: curtains, rugs, cushions, clothing left on the floor.

What we look for

Live bed bugs, of course, but above all the traces they leave: small black spots (droppings), translucent shed skins, barely visible white eggs, blood stains on sheets. Those clues tell us how long the infestation has lasted and how far it has spread.

How long it takes

A standard home inspection usually takes between thirty minutes and an hour, depending on the size and the clutter. There is nothing special to prepare, other than clearing access around the beds.

By the end of the inspection you know three things: whether there are bed bugs, where they are, and what an intervention would actually involve. You then decide with full information, without pressure.
